Compliance Support
An integral part of CBS' services is to determine what obstacles are preventing organizations from being compensated for services provided. CBS' experience has shown such obstacles can vary from internal data collection issues to a lack of information being provided by physicians and their staff. Some of these problems can have a negative impact if not corrected. They potentially violate federal healthcare laws, rules, and regulations.
CBS' compliance staff consists of lawyers, clinical experts, and other professionals that have many years of experience in affecting change and overcoming inhibiting issues. CBS has presented educational programs to over 500 hospitals and physicians in the past four years with the sole purpose of improving reimbursement and documentation for both the physicians and the hospitals. This is accomplished through the use and clarification of coding and documentation standards set out by Centers for Medi-Caid Services (CMS) and their local intermediaries. Among the many issues addressed are the anti-kickback and Stark laws, and an explanation of why it is imperative that organizations bill for services they provide to avoid the possibility of running into conflict with these laws. CBS also provides one-on-one physician education sessions to address ordering issues for physicians who are failing to complete their documentation in a manner that will allow for reimbursement for their organization.
To accomplish this, the staff at CBS consists of professionals that include: certified coders, registered nurses, lab service directors, compliance officers, attorneys who have acted as the Independent Review Organization for providers under a government enforced "Integrity Agreement," as well as hospital and physician billers with expertise in all areas of healthcare billing.
As part of our billing services at CBS, it is imperative to the company that such services are provided at no additional cost. CBS does not treat symptoms. Rather, the goal at CBS is to cure the disease.
